My Ultimate Camera Bag Checklist for Peru Travels

I see many photographers posting: “What is in my camera bag?”, so I thought I would add My Ultimate Camera Bag Checklist for Peru Travels for this blog. My trip was a month-long trip to Peru. I spent three and a half weeks in Cusco and six days in Lima. I traveled light on my trip to Peru; had my backpack with my tablet, camera and gear; and a carry-on suitcase.

My Ultimate Camera Bag Gear

  • Microsoft Surface Pro 9 Tablet
    • Adobe Lightroom
    • SD Card Reader
    • WD External Hard Drive (for backup)
  • Sony A7iii Camera with SmallRig Cage Kit
  • Two Lenses:
    • Sony FE 24-105 mm f/4 Zoom Lens
    • Sony 14 mm f/1.8 GM Prime Lens
  • Sony charger, 2 batteries, 2 SD Cards
  • Camera cleaning accessories
  • Benro Monopod, case, extra plate
  • GoPro HERO 10
  • GoPro Dual-battery charger, 4 batteries, 2 Micro SD Cards
  • Gorilla Pod
  • REI Backpack
  • BESTEK International Electric Converter (3-outlets, 4 USB)
  • Motorola Edge mobile phone (Android); added one-month international coverage.
    • Gaia GPS App
    • PhotoPill App
  • Phone Charger, USB cables.
  • Have Camera Insurance through membership in PPA – Professional Photographers of America.
  • Business Cards
  • U.S. Passport

My Workflow (photos)

  • Copy the images from the camera SD card to my tablet in new folders by date.
  • Add the new photos to Adobe Lightroom library in folders.
  • Add Copyright info to all photos.
  • Convert ARW raw files to DNG files.
  • Copy the new folders to the External Hard Drive as backup.
  • Format SD Cards for new day of shooting.
  • Repeat daily…

Other Notes

Have a streamlined workflow for video: copy, backup, and format micro-SD card.

My go-to lens for the trip was the 24-105 mm Zoom Lens. This lens gave me a wide range to work with. At the same time, I do not like changing lenses during the day, so I ended up using this zoom lens most of the trip.

The BESTEK converter was a key device for charging my electronics. This converter has a plug for the 220 V in Peru and steps it down to 110 V for U.S. electronics. It comes with 3-outlets, and 4-USB ports. I was able to charge everything with this.
