We travel along the Colorado River to see the secret life of the Wild Burros at Parker Dam with the truck or on the motorcycle and have seen them here on many trips. The herds of burros frequent this area mainly because of the water and nearby water-fed foliage that they can feast on.
Parker Dam was built between 1934 and 1938, it is 320 feet (98 m) high. The dam’s primary functions are to create a reservoir = Lake Havasu and to generate hydroelectric power for the area.
The road over the dam and along the Colorado River is a very scenic roadway. This is a regular route for our motorcycle trips to Laughlin River Run and Arizona Bike Week.
The wild burros along the way are always a treat to see!
