Exploring the Heart of Guatemala – Antigua in A Week
Antigua, Guatemala Arch

We are embarking on our journey of exploring the Heart of Guatemala – Antigua in A Week to discover the hidden gems and local favorites of Antigua. Each day we did local all-day tours in the area and closed the bars down at night! One of the daily activities is drinking local beers or a local rum mixed with Coca-Cola. The cost for the mixed drink is only 10 Quetzales or about $1.25 U.S. Dollars!

Guatemala and the Yucatán Peninsula is where the majority of the Maya peoples live. Here you can visit both the modern day Mayan and the historical places of the earlier Mayan cities. Antigua is a UNESCO site and was an early capital of Guatemala. The capital was later moved to Guatemala City. The original historical government buildings are still in Antigua, as well as churches and others buildings of the time.
